Cory writes, "I don’t like AI art. I find it anodyne, boring. As Henry Farrell writes, it’s uncanny, and not in a good way:"

Cory's post is well thought out and nuanced in all the right ways, but assigning aesthetic value, or the claim of numinal experience to any art is fraught, to say the least. Whether or not "art" stirs the soul is only to be found in the soul of the observer. The artist, human or machine, can't "make me feel" anything. Taste, like the appreciation for "art", is a deeply personal thing. I love a good single malt Scotch, but my wife hates the taste. No one creates a sunset, but I derive more appreciation from that something that no human had a hand in creating (something just handed to me) than in most of the art I will ever experience.
